As a woman, I absolutely despise the idea behind spending money on engagement rings and on weddings in general. Both of those industries are a SCAM. Your love for someone isn't measured by how large of a diamond you buy.

My budget for an engagement ring is $100. Buying a cute emerald ring on Etsy would do. Okay, maybe $200 if the ring is really nice. My wedding budget is $200 as well - or how much are marriage licenses these days?

People spend too much money on stupid materialistic stuff anyway. But when I hear some girls talking about how their boos are EXPECTED to drop 3 to 6 months worth of salary on engagement rings, otherwise they don't love them; is horrifying.

P.S. What about women proposing to men, by the way? Are we also supposed to drop $10k on a ring?
