Hi, Bill. Kudos from Toronto! From South Etobicoke, to be exact. I live near Lake Shore, which is why I get the appeal to have a friend with a boat/yacht… but yeah, such approach is really low. I think it should be about quality of the person, not the “toys” they own.
I’m sorry you had such an experience. Unfortunately, there are always people who see materialistic items as a priority. You did a smart thing by not case showing your possessions. People should be interested in us for the right reasons.
I still haven’t given up on online dating, and I can tell you that every time I see a day showing off his car, or an expensive watch, or something else; I swipe left. Unless their profile is nicely done, he bothered to fill it out, said the right things and our goals match. Because I don’t see cars and watches as items to be proud of and post them on social media or dating profiles. Not to mention, a ton of people buy expensive crap they can’t afford afterwards. Anyway, I hope this reinstates your faith in humanity. :) Not all of us are motivated by boats, haha.
