I consider myself a feminist and low-key an advocate for human rights. But I never saw men as abusers. I’ve heard a countless number of stories about abuse, and even shows like “Law and Order: SVU” impacted my vision. However, it’s important to minimize biases in our lives. Can men be abusers? Yes. Do most men abuse women? No. Some men do, unfortunately. Some women do that too. It’s crucial to TALK about it and DO something about it — such as supporting shelters, supporting abuse victims, discussing the importance of consent and how violence is not acceptable. But I cannot allow myself to think that a group of people — such as men — generally abuse women. It DOES happen, but it doesn’t mean that all/half/quarter of the male population are that way.
