I feel you. I put myself through college as well without accepting any help from my parents, including rent and other personal expenses. I’m 28 as well, and I should be paying off my loans before I turn 29. But I think the loans forgiveness would be nice for the future generations, including our kids. Also, the loan forgiveness can come with certain terms - for example, mandatory hours of volunteer work.
