I’m Canadian and I work in finance. I’ve never heard of such a thing. However, I know that telecommunication companies sometimes hire shady third-party customer service agencies who claim to “pay for your training” and say: “you won’t have to pay for your training, we’ll pay for it; but you won’t GET PAID for that time”. Huh?? As if getting training for YOUR JOB is your responsibility, not your employer’s. So annoying.
