Let's flip it and apply this to women. Imagine that you, while being a man, isn't expected to propose to your woman, because the society says you have to wait: 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or longer. Even if you want to commit to your partner and start a family.

And then someone, a male, says: "I want to propose myself. I'm a strong, confident, strong-willed man! If I love my woman and I'm ready to have kids with her, I want to tell her that and make her my wife! A real woman shouldn't have a problem with that, if she loves me too.". And a female reads this and comments: "Seems like a judgement of all women..."
