My father is like your second husband: attentive to my mom’s emotional needs. He’s her best supporter, never puts her down, encourages her to do what she wants, and is overall very kind and emotionally mature. My mom is also very supportive and encouraging, but my dad is probably even slightly better at that, because he has a softer and kinder personality. :)
I think that most caring, kind and loving people are that way. Unfortunately, since men were raised in a world powered by toxic masculinity, not all of them are strong enough or motivated enough to break away and focus on their emotional maturity and happiness. I suppose there are signs of positive change, but we’re far away from the desired level of maturity.
