Okay, but a waitress' income won't even cover rent or mortgage payments in most countries. The only people who would be able to somewhat pay their expenses are those who own their homes, which is a huge privilege that most young folks don't have. A person can cover groceries and other basic needs for some time, but what happens when their partner gets sick and needs medication? What if another unexpected expense come up? Sure, if a family has substantial savings, they'll be able to cover many expenses. Hell, I was thinking of taking a year off work recently thanks to having some savings! But that's a place of privilege that most men and women don't have. The only women who have it is either very smart ladies who have been working for a while, saved and invested their money; or those who found well-off husbands and made them take over the financial responsibilities. If it's the one of those scenarios, then this is also a rare instance that doesn't usually apply to most people.
