One problem I've noticed by observing people's behaviour and learning mostly from other people's experiences (rarely on my own, fortunately) is that many men who believe they are "good men" aren't really that way. And the majority of them aren't equipped for what women expect them to contribute nowadays; not financially but as partners and fathers. It seems that behind nearly every "good man" there's a woman who would attest to him not being a good man at all.

I'd say that since humans suck in general, this can be applied towards women as well. But one thing with women is, we are taught to be nurturing and caring from childhood, so I suppose the good parenting and childcare part comes easier to us.
