Sorry, but I disagree. It's a well-built system with all parties, including the insurance companies, hospitals and others, involved. Moreover, Jennifer's main issue was that the insurance company has been happily collecting premiums monthly, yet didn't cover her grandma's stay. I am not a doctor, but a sick person staying in a hospital does not sound unreasonable, and expecting your insurance company to cover these costs isn't unreasonable either. I bet it was a regular bed, not a private room. The problem is, insurance companies THEORETICALLY promise you a certain coverage, yet some of them find a way to decline almost anything, all thanks to the endless terms buried in the fine print. There is often no alternative with insurance companies; they are about the same, with a few being less evil than others.
