Thank you for this interesting and wholesome comment. I can attest to the fact that being raised in a middle-class or slightly upper-class household in a non-first-world country can be amazing when you earn a decent living. My father was that way, but he didn't want to be "rich among poor" and chose to move to a more democratic country where human rights are respected. I haven't been to Indonesia, and as far as I know, it has a decent economy, yet not the best human rights situation. I don't think the staff is being exploited, and I agree that people have stereotypes about countries like the UK, Canada and the US. Look at healthcare, for God's sake. And the cost of living in many cities. However, I don't know if I'd be able to move elsewhere for a long time and be the "rich white lady", haha.

Sounds like you have a loving family and an excellent wife. Meeting someone as you're travelling and marrying a foreigner, in general, can be an excellent choice that leads to a long, happy life. Passport bro-ing is very different. I hope it's on a limited lifespan indeed. According to what I've seen, it ends fast.

I don't know how I feel about the wife giving the husband 80% of his salary. I think both people should be involved in the family's finances.
