The story about a lady who got pregnant and decided to have an abortion is heartbreaking. I don’t know if she had a decent salary and didn’t want to jeopardise her career & income growth; but if she was making $40k a year and wanted to have an abortion because her job was more important… That’s awful.

I live in Toronto, Canada. I’m a banker too, although not an investment kind. Surely, there are companies here who would (secretly) not promote you if you take maternity/paternity leave. But overall, so far I’ve heard and seen a lot of cases when women and men take 1-1.5 years away from work, and they come back and continue their career.

I wish it was this way everywhere.
