There is so much to unpack here, lol. Putting on make-up and getting the nails done is the least effort a woman can make for a date. Also, it's not even that important, at least I don't think men really care about the colour of my nails or whether I used 7 or 17 make-up items while preparing for the date.

Effort should come from expressing yourself and showing the other person who you are. From being proactive on the date and not sitting there silently. But since you brought up the superficial little things, I can attest to the fact that at least 1/3 of men who shows up to dates doesn't even bother ironing their clothes.
