This is why I don’t always read comments and often don’t reply to them. Thank God no one sends me emails like that; I don’t know how I would react. I hope that man finds peace and seeks therapy. The point of the matter is, you are at liberty to express your opinion on anything, and you didn’t hurt anyone’s reputation by talking about a particular case/news. As long as there’s nothing which amounts to defamation, you are in no way liable, legally or morally. This guy doesn’t agree with you, and that’s fine. Many people don’t agree with us. But I think he used a writer he’s been following as a medium to unpack decades-long pain and suffering. What happened to him is horrendous, but you’re not his therapist. I feel bad for him, but I also feel appalled that he decided to send you such an email instead of seeking therapy. And by the way, according to statistics, only 4% of rape accusations turn out to be false.
