Yeah, people can be racist, and white folks are often the worst. The whole immigration thing is silly because almost every American and Canadian is essentially an immigrant in 2nd, 3rd, 10th or whatever generation. Our ancestors colonized these lands and took them away from native people. Well, not everyone's ancestor but still.

I used to have a thick accent which is barely noticeable now. The comments I got were quite horrendous. :) And then, when it's gotten much better, I, a former call centre worker, would hear stuff like: "Oh, I'm so glad you're the one who got the call as I spoke to your colleague and they have an accent". It didn't feel like a compliment at all and I ensured to let that person know I have an accent too. So annoying.

Ugh, fetish is a separate issue.
