Yeah, there are a lot of excuses one can come up with. But then I hear a lot of men complain that women aren't interested in them and are attracted to much taller, fitter, smarter, wealthier and overall better guys.

I think you missed the point of this. Much older men approaching women who look 13 to 17 isn't a minority, there are quite a few who do that - based not only on my own experiences but on what most women shared with me during my lifetime.
